It’s been a while since I last updated you on Office Nomad news. This is the latest.
Spending the month of September with Netprofile was a very interesting one. I felt like working in family environment and learned a lot. Being able to contribute my part by extending my thoughts on the future of PR and social media was a really exciting thing. I was honored by having a possibility to attend their planning day as a fly in the ceiling.
Thanks to everyone at Netprofile!
This busy month I’ve been sitting at White Sheep, a digital agency within Aegis group. I’ve felt instant belonging here as well. Refreshing, different type group of professionals is what I’m experiencing here. Maybe some internal stuff is still going to happen during this last week of the month.
New host booking for December 2009 is Dazzle. This is an interesting host, something different from any of the previous ones.
Office Nomad concept will be extended
Due to several contacts about the concept, I’ve decided to extend the concept to cover larger audiences. To hear the news first, join Office Nomad – Toimistonomadi Facebook page.
Here’s the presentation I made on Wednesday at Tieke seminar “Vinkkejä ja Viiniä”. Believe it or not, this took only 15 minutes. Should you be interested in hearing what this is all about or wanting to know more – you know where to find us.
It seems that there might be some pandemic panicing in the air. Social media fans in northern Europe and especially in Sweden are not to be afraid.
Thomas Wennström of What’s Next blog in Sweden came up with an idea of Sweden Social Web Camp. After the publication of the idea on April 22nd, large number of people have showed interest for this event. The main blog post alone has 95 comments, mostly from people signing up for the event.
The idea of Sweden Social Web Camp is to take advantage of the warm nightless summer of norther Europe by taking people away from their city dwellings to the nature, by the water. With social media people this would mean lot of innovation and new ideas.
We’ll meet by a quiet lake, beautiful sea or a red cottage. And talk about social web. Some activities are pre-plannes, but mostly the agenda will be up to the ones that show up. Ideas, you should bring with you. Demo your latest project. Start a discussion about something you are pondering upon.
Everything barefooted holding to a cold beer in the sunset. Chatting by the fire when it gets dark.
I must say I immediately showed interest towards the event. They are now trying to figure out the location in Sweden. I read that besides Finland (we were warmly welcomed!) also Denmark has been curious about the whole thing.
Now, this is a great backup plan, should the swine flu become a pandemia. And otherwise as well!
This is the day when a new Finnish service called Twitbear went to closed beta.
Twitbear is a project of three social media entrepreneurs – @anttiakonniemi @kaimaan, @heleneauramo – that’s what they are called in Twitter.
Twitbear looks and feels just like Twitter, but it allows users to do something that serious tweeters have been missing for a long time – comment on threads. This feature will bring on the active discussion known from services such as Jaiku, which unfortunately has been faded by Google.
The first hours of Twitbear has been booming. Really looking forward to see how fast this will fly.
Should interview them? Sure, why not. I’ll grab my vidset and find them.
Mindtrek 2008, the 12th international digital media & business conference and leading Nordic social media event, started in Tampere this morning. If you are not attending (like me), there is like Jaiku reporting and discussion going on from several tracks and events. If you still have an opportunity to go, do it.
So, I did attend Nokia Open Lab event. And it was great! I had great expectations about this event, and the event fullfilled all of those and beyond. Amazing.
The event itself had some 40 participants all around the world, or should I say all around the Internet…Great personalities with strong views about everything and anything. I could have spent a whole full day just talking with every single attendee. Can you imagine how this type of people can contribute and yes, co-create?
One whole day was spent on four workshops:
Join the share (by James Whatley)
Join the journey (by Glenn Letham)
Join the fun (by Anne Toole)
Join and collaborate (by CT Moore)
Everyone attended the lively discussions with lot of enthusiasm. The results are available all over the web, good place to start looking is the event homepage. You may also try tag nokiaopenlab08
The second day we had an honor of listening to Adam Greenfield and Udo Szabo. They made some very interesting points. I’m really looking forward to read Adam’s next book, The City is here for you to use.
The best moments of the event were though the discussions, where so many different opinions, ideas, viewpoints and pieces of information were exchanged.
A big hand for Nokia for arranging such a great event. I’m really looking forward to next one, and I hope I will be able to attend.
I will later share some information about the people I met and a bunch of links to some very interesting blogs.
Thanks Nokia and all the attendees! Thanks JP and the team!
And as we say here in Finland “Thank you very many!”
I have a great priviledge to attend a global Nokia workshop on mobile future. The event is called Nokia Open Lab 08 and it will be focusing on mobile future and co-creation of media.
There are several ways to follow the event online. I personally will be posting on Jaiku channel http://jaiku.com/channel/Nokia and so will many others, I believe.
Like you may have noticed, I’ve been quite quiet here lately. There is a good reason for that. I’ve taken up a new innovative project from the construction industry. Earlier this spring we started a new business, which is taking a big part of my time. If you want to see how our new business Riqq Innovations is proceeding, you can find more information through Riqq website or Construction Data blog.
This doesn’t mean that Ekana would disappear.
Ekana still does interesting projects, seeking first-in-the-industry solutions. So far we have some very interesting experiences related to design, fashion, restaurants, retail, construction and new sofware business concepts.
We are also interested in offering marketing/strategy/business planning support for emerging startups. And that’s not for money, but for passion.
If you have good and exciting projects, let us know…
I have personally been very active with different social media and mobile concepts lately. Finland is bubbling with so many interesting concepts and startups… I just love to use all the different services, but also to actively network with people building the new services.
