It seems that there might be some pandemic panicing in the air. Social media fans in northern Europe and especially in Sweden are not to be afraid.
Thomas Wennström of What’s Next blog in Sweden came up with an idea of Sweden Social Web Camp. After the publication of the idea on April 22nd, large number of people have showed interest for this event. The main blog post alone has 95 comments, mostly from people signing up for the event.
The idea of Sweden Social Web Camp is to take advantage of the warm nightless summer of norther Europe by taking people away from their city dwellings to the nature, by the water. With social media people this would mean lot of innovation and new ideas.
Translation from the event description (original in Swedish):
We’ll meet by a quiet lake, beautiful sea or a red cottage. And talk about social web. Some activities are pre-plannes, but mostly the agenda will be up to the ones that show up. Ideas, you should bring with you. Demo your latest project. Start a discussion about something you are pondering upon.
Everything barefooted holding to a cold beer in the sunset. Chatting by the fire when it gets dark.
I must say I immediately showed interest towards the event. They are now trying to figure out the location in Sweden. I read that besides Finland (we were warmly welcomed!) also Denmark has been curious about the whole thing.
Now, this is a great backup plan, should the swine flu become a pandemia. And otherwise as well!
